Our top three tips for all your adventurous wine shopping extravaganzas!
FIND A LOCAL INDIE WINE SHOP. Make sure the wine steward is eager and excited to give suggestions, or at the very least, nice. (Otherwise, get outta there.)
BRING PICS. Show the wine steward pics of wines you like *and* don’t like. Even if they don’t have the exact ones you like, they will be able to get a great feel for what you like (and don’t like).
FOCUS ON REGION, NOT GRAPE. Love Malbecs from Walla Walla Washington? Look for other wines from Washington before looking for a French Malbec, for example. Love Southern Rhône wines? Don’t get stuck on the grapes, look for other wines from Southern France.
